The Mystery at Harrowdale Manor: Chapter 10

With Niles gone at last, Elena and Tobias were left in the darkness alone. Elena didn't know exactly what to say to her brother-in-law, but she felt she should probably thank him for saving her life.

"I don't know what I would've done if you hadn't shown up, Tobias," Elena expressed her relief. "But what are you doing out here?"

"I knew Mason left his business to you," Tobias shrugged. "He would have, so I didn't care about finding the will. But as I was doing some work in the study I heard footsteps on the walk at the front of the house. I was concerned for your safety because Mason would've never wanted anything bad happening to you, so I decided to investigate. I guess it's a good thing I did."

"Indeed," Elena agreed. "Now, I don't suppose you'd be up for a treasure hunt?"

Once Elena explained to Tobias about the map, he agreed to help her follow it, but first thing in the morning. Know that without Niles lurking about the treasure was safe, Elena concurred and the two met in the garden the next morning, following the map far into the back of the garden. There they stumbled across Mason's hiding place.

"Oh, my!" Elena gasped as Tobias threw open the large wooden chest.

It was filled with all kinds of fabulous treasure! Elena had had no idea that Mason had collected all these amazing trinkets.

"Here," Tobias plucked a folded piece of paper from inside an ornate bag inside. "I believe this was probably meant for you."

Elena took it and read it, smiling a little as she did so. It was indeed a note from her husband for her. They had done it. Solved the case and found Mason's treasure. Now all that was left was wrapping up a few details.

To be completed...
