The Mystery at Harrowdale Manor: Chapter 9

Elena waited in the quiet of the dark garden. She glanced at the manor. All was dark. Must be nearly midnight.

Suddenly, the crunch on the gravel alerted her to an intruder behind her, and she whirled about to confront her husband's killer.

"Niles!" she cried, shocked. "You killed my husband?! It can't be."

"Sorry, Elena, but Mason left me no choice," Niles sighed, but his eyes glinted wickedly. "He hid the treasure from me, threatened to fire me, and swore his will would let the world know how terrible I was as his partner. So that night I snuck up behind him and forced the poison into his mouth."

"What?" Elena's brow furrowed in confusion, horrified. "He threatened to tell the world you were a terrible partner? How? I don't understand."

"And I'm afraid you never will," Niles snarled.

Elena screamed as Niles lunged at her and tried to get his hands up around her neck. He was trying to strangle her! "Give me that map!" he threatened.

"No!" She fought back as best she could, knocking his hat off during the struggle.

"Leave her alone!" out of nowhere, Tobias appeared, racing to the rescue.

"Ugh," he leapt at Niles, knocking him to the ground and doing everything he could to pin him down and subdue him. They struggled hard, but Tobias was wiry and had boxed in college. He gained the upper hand at last, and Niles was forced to surrender.

"What's going on here?" Tobias asked. Elena explained while Niles sat in brooding silence.

"He said Mason threatened to tell everyone what a terrible partner he was," Elena wrapped up the explanation. "But I don't understand why."

"Mason suspected Niles of embezzling," Tobias explained. "He shared his suspicions with me, but he didn't yet have proof. At least, not that I know of. He threatened to fire Niles countless times."

Elena looked sadly at Niles, "so all this time you were only pretending to care?"

Niles smirked at her. "Of course," he snarled. "Why would I ever fall for a spoiled rich girl like you?"

His words stung. While Tobias kept Niles under watchful eyes, Elena hurried up to the house to send a servant for the constables. Before long, Niles had been arrested and Tobias and Elena were left alone in the garden.

Storybook Land

We leave tomorrow night to start our vacation, so I thought I'd better put up a post or two before we go. I'll be leaving the laptop at home during this trip so no posts until we get back. It's been a bit of a busy week, so I haven't had a lot of time for posting, but I've got a moment now. In honor of our upcoming trip, I decided to post a few more pics from our last trip. Our grandparents live outside of Aberdeen, South Dakota; and in Aberdeen they have a little place called Storybook Land. We used to go here when we were kids so we decided it was time for a nostalgia visit. Basically, this place is filled with statues, buildings, and such of storybook creatures, characters, and settings. The Gang's Wall Here

Now that you've met the Roads, the Garr brothers, and Ryder's first family; it's time you meet the Wall family. Brick Wall and his happy family belong to me, SilverStar-Burst. Their family contains my first ever BJD, who you'll meet a little further down the page. As you can see, Brick has a rather large family. He and his lovely wife have seven kids, one assistant, and a stowaway. That's not even counting all the little animals and aliens they drag along with them. Up first is Captain Brick Wall, former sky pirate, current treasure seeker and detective. He's ~47cm tall, and I bought him secondhand off of eBay. He started out as big brother to my two earliest YoSDs, but he made a better father-figure, so I made him that instead. He may have a little of a deer-in-the-headlights look right now, but that's only because I just told him he's going to be featured on a blog. I guess he's a little overwhelmed by the idea. History of Ryder's First BJD Ever

Barrel Ryder here again, with my next doll family. This family doesn't really have a last name but one of the characters has a last name so it's kinda confusing...I'll just get on with the post and it should make sense by the end. This is the family. This is Jade. She was my first ever BJD and the first ever BJD to enter this house, she is very special to me. Jade has a sad story, her husband was a police officer and was killed in the line of duty very shortly after they were married. Jade adopted three children after her husband died. She also owns a ranch and has a very handsome ranch hand who you will met momentarily. Jasmine was my second ever BJD. Jasmine's best friend is Lego Loki from the Avengers movie, Loki pretends to be mean but mess with his girl and he will end you! Jasmine also loves the Lord of the Rings, and the Hobbit. This is Amy. Amy is soft spoken loves horses and nature, oh and has a huge crush on Marcus from the Roads...
