Hair Today...

Ransom was so excited he could hardly wait to show everyone his new hair! He's been wanting some since I got him last year in late summer. But nothing seems to fit his head all that well, and I'd bought the stuff to make my own wigs instead, but haven't quite got to that yet, so I gave in at last and purchased hair for him along with some others. So Ransom, Blaine, Ryder, and Xavier all offered to model.

Simon, in the meantime, was thrilled to get the chair all to himself at last.

We'll start with Ransom because he's often last at everything and is beginning to get the impression that I don't love him. So here he is in his lovely new wig. It's a Monique RED style wig in Chestnut Brown/Black. It still swims on him and will need to be fixed with elastic. Still it looks pretty good on him and he adores it.

Then I got a second Monique RED style wig in nearly black for Blaine. He also got his new eyes at the same time: ones that are very dark brown, almost black. He looks much better now.

Then there's Xavier. Man, has he been fussy! First the yarn wig didn't look that great and sloshed all over the place, then I bought him a second wig, which, though they claimed it was 7-8", is way too tight and makes him look like Frankenstein...a four year old Frankenstein with creepy yellow eyes. This wig was nothing like the pictures of the product so I got a partial refund which softened the blow considerably.

So then I found another wig on eBay that was a lighter strawberry blonde with nice blue highlights in the bangs. It was the right size, and I really liked the blue in it. Since it was also not too expensive with free shipping, and I'd gotten that refund on the other wig, I bought it. It's better, but still a little shorter than I'd have liked for him. Still, it looks pretty good, and if I get the eyes I want for him it might look even better.

Finally, I got Ryder to model a few wigs for me. He protested big time and fought tooth and nail until I gave him my word I would do a project for him next, something I've been planning for a long time. With Ryder placated, I got him to try out that first wig I'd bought for Xavier.

While it looks much better on this size of doll, the wig is still a 7-8" size, and Ryder is a 6-7" so it's pretty big around the edges. I have no idea what I'm going to do with this wig in the long run.

Next we have a wig Barrel Ryder made to fit a 6-7" size head. This one came from an adjusted pattern. It's not too bad, but it is a little shallow, so I'm going to see about finding her another tutorial that's a little different and might make a better wig like this. She made the wig out of long pile minky fabric. I think it's kind of cute, but I like it smoothed down.

My mom, however, liked it fluffed up.

My sister didn't like it either way. But she never gives up so she'll give it another go tomorrow. The last wig I've got to show off is one I found on Etsy from a seller in South Korea. While I wouldn't recommend shopping on Etsy anymore, I can recommend this seller's shop: MIYONIdoll. She did a really cute job on this wig, and I had to have one when I saw it. It could probably use a gentle styling, and I might consider putting a little elastic in it as well, but it actually fits really nicely for a fur wig, and I like it a lot.

It gives Ryder a lot of hair, but it's too cute just the same. Ryder was happy to get back to his own hair once the photo shoot came to a close.

In the meantime, Simon was not so thrilled to have his chair-mates back.

Simon will just have to put up with it for now; there's no other place for Ransom and Blaine to go.

I hope you enjoyed wig show and tell. See you next time.
