A Whole Slew of Face-Ups aka Introductions Part 2

A few weeks ago I worked on some face-ups for some new members of my crew. It was a little exhausting painting all of these dolls, so I've been taking a break for a couple of weeks. Plus it's been pretty hot here, and I wanted to wait for a little better weather. I'd really like to get at least Ransom painted this summer as well.

This is Forester. He's a blind psychic teen who's staying with Atlas and Damian for the time being. I got his head earlier this year and then had to wait quite a while for his body. First for me actually to purchase it and then for it to come. (Shipping has been absolutely awful this year!) You might notice that Forester is the one who "pilfered" Cal's old wig. It looks great on Forester and fits him better too, so he's keeping it now.

I love how well Forester's face-up turned out. I think he and Cory are the two most realistic faces I've ever done. Oh, and his eyes have changed since I took this photo. I'd purchased special eyes for him, but with shipping being so terrible, they took a long time coming, so I used these temporarily instead. I really liked these too, but they belong to my sister, so I had to give them back.

Next we have Tiffin! He's going to be a unicorn when he's fully finished. He still needs a horn and a mane and tail. Tiffin was dropped off on the doorstep of the Walls' guesthouse, and has ended up in Howl's care. Howl is kind of the leader of the guesthouse crew, so I guess it makes sense that he'd take in the new baby.

Speaking of Howl, I blushed his feet, hands, and ears. However, while taking off his hands, I broke his wrist joint. It was too thin and the strings too thick and I squeezed just a bit too hard. Now I have to get him a replacement before I can put him back together, and I'm going to restring his arms with thinner string so that it doesn't happen again.

Tiffin is small like Lily, and he has little hooves and furry hands. I gave him some blushing on his hands, feet, and faces. He has an open-eyed face too, and human pieces, but he's not going to need those right away. I tried a magnet to keep a horn on, but it didn't work. The resin in his forehead is too thick and the magnets weren't big enough to give them enough strength to hold. Since I don't want to mod the inside of his head, I'm going to just hot-glue the horn in place. That will work and not damage him, but I've got to find time to do it. Actually, I need to do something else with clay here shortly, so I should remember to do his horn at the same time.

This is my mature mini adult version of Descole. I've always wanted an adult version of that character because he is my own original character and one of the most important OC's I have, but every time I've tried it in the past it never stuck. This time worked, though. Now he just needs hair. I've thought about making him a wig, but I'm not great at making wigs, so I may just break down and order him something to save myself the trouble. Besides, I have at least one future doll that's going to FORCE me to try making hair if I want something good. One might be quite enough.

Descole's a soldier and has been through a lot,  so I gave him a few faint scars. They're kind of hard to see. But there's one by his eyebrow here and one on his jaw/chin.

And one on his cheek here.

I kept them really subtle, so they're almost impossible to see in these photos. You can see the two best here in the close-up. They're the kind of peach "smudges" by his eye and on his chin. Descole will be getting dark hair and a medieval costume at some point. I've got a few guys and gals in this size that need fancy costumes, but I've been so busy I've been putting it off. And I'll probably need to continue putting it off for the time being.

Finally, we have Tydys! Tydys is also a mature mini. He turned out really great when I painted him.

I'm pretty impressed with almost all of these face-ups, actually. Tiffin's might be a bit heavy-handed, but I still don't hate it. As for Tydys, I do have an idea for his medieval costume, and I'd really love to find time to get to it, but I've been making plush bears and that's taking all of my time right now. Maybe I'll show a couple of them off sometime. For now, I haven't been in too big of a hurry with Tydys, because there's no going anywhere this year, so no need to get his better outfit done as quickly. He does need his head cap hot-glue sueded--his wig pops off at every opportunity--and he needs his wig's tag cut out. Maybe I'll get to all of that within the next month. Who knows?
