A Horse, Of Course

Image
Recently, I spent a little time looking through Our Generation horses on eBay, because I took my old one outside to do pictures with my medieval Matt dolls. It was a lot of fun taking Shadow (the horse's name) outdoors, which, yes, was the first time I had ever done that. While searching eBay, I ran across a white holiday Clydesdale horse. He was gorgeous! I loved the pure white color, and the white fur around his hooves. He even has soft flocking and a sparkly mane and tail. While the sparkles in the mane and tail weren't something I would have gone out of my way to find, they weren't a deal breaker, and I loved the stockier build of the Clydesdale, plus that he was white and soft. So I bought him. In fact, when I saw him, I had a Lord of the Rings moment: "They come in Clydesdales? I'm getting one!" He came yesterday and works perfectly with my MSD and smaller dolls. These pictures would've been better taken outside, but today wasn't the bes...

Fang

Image
Well, I rewarded Ryder at last for his reluctant help in modelling wigs. It took nearly three days from start to finish, but I finished Ryder's very own pet wolf. I designed my tiny wolf plush pattern for this purpose in the first place. Ryder is based off of one of my own characters from a story I wrote and Fang is his pet wolf in the story. He's pure black, but, being partially a special breed, he has icy blue eyes for his whole life, kind of like his master. I enjoyed making this wolf. The fabrics were fun, and I especially liked the shaggy black one I used for his main parts. He turned out even cuter than I was expecting, perfect for Fang. I used black ultrasuede for his paw pads, and, yes, I sewed on claws and a nose and mouth. But I sewed them in black, so you can only see them in person, and sometimes not even then. When I was sewing him I made the mistake I usually make, I forgot to insert his tail when I sewed his body shut. Luckily, I only made it ...

Utter Disappointment

Image
So last week my sister and I decided to place an order with Camellia Dynasty for one of their Sage horses. I've wanted one for a while, and just finally got up the courage to take the plunge. We went with white, ordered a horn to match, a horse blanket, and two sets of extra pieces to make manes and tails of our own. I checked on our order twice, and it said on my account on their site that the order was processing. I never received an email confirmation of my order, but I thought maybe that was just how that website did things. Stock Photo of Sage Horse from Camellia Dynasty Then yesterday, I tried to go to their site and it had completely disappeared! There's no trace of their website ever existing at all, save a Facebook page they stopped using ~3 years ago. I tried emailing them three times, twice before the purchase with a question, and once yesterday on discovering their site is gone. Nothing. I'm so disappointed. Of course, paying with PayPal we can get the ...

Horace in the Wild

Image
" You're taking my picture?"   This is Horace Wall. He arrived yesterday. He's a YoSD with what I call a "disgusted" face. I just love that face. He looks so sarcastic. It works on many levels.   "What's up with my hair?"     "Why do I see double when I stare at my finger like this?"     "Yuck! I'm surrounded by dead tree buds and cobwebs."     "Eew, there's a dead bug over there?"     "What's with that tree?"   And that was all just from the backyard. I know some people don't like to take their dolls out into the sun, but I feel like the dolls are meant to be played with. Besides, all the time he spent in the sunshine amounted to less than three minutes, and it makes for lovely photos. Of course, the sun was out in full force today, with hardly any clouds in sight, so it washed him out a little when he wasn't in the shade, but arou...

In Stitches

So our internet has been acting up for days now, ever since Monday. It wouldn't let me on any website on the laptop, and all other computers were slow. I especially couldn't get on here to post, and it definitely wouldn't let me upload pictures. So I got two posts ready to go, but couldn't get them to where I could post them. Finally, I got so tired of it I pulled the internet's plug, which reset it at last and I was good to go. So, I'm posting today, and actually have enough material for three posts. I'll finish two today and be back tomorrow if all goes well. Anyway, today I wanted to talk about my tiny plushies. I got into them back when my sister got her first Pukifee and I wanted to make a tiny teddy for her tiny doll. I liked it so much I kept going, even getting to where I could design my own patterns. That makes my sister think I can do just about anything for her, which prompted her to ask for a few things, the first of which is a moose. (Ryder is...

Down-Time with Daddy

Image
Ryder sat alone in the play room, playing quietly with his plushies. Quickly, a battle of epic proportions ensued. "Avenge me!" Andes moose cried. Shot down by a sasquatch riding an airplane, what a way to go. "Surrender or face the consequences," Guardian dragon commanded. "Never!" Henry T. Sasquatch shouted bravely. "Ahhhh!" Guardian yelled, flying straight at the sasquatch. "Noooo!" body slamming the sasquatch, both fell out of the sky, tumbling down in a never-ending spiral. "Boom!" Ryder cried, falling back as his airplane crashed, and all the other toys perished in the battle. "Uh, hi," Ryder looked up as his dad's shadow fell across him. "Hi," Brick smiled. "What's going on in here?" "Nothing..." playing nervously with his hands, Ryder answered evasively. "Really? Because it looks like toy-mageddon," Brick tease...

When boredom sets in...

Image
Today as I, Barrel Ryder, sat working on my computer I heard a small grunt as a little resin doll pulled himself up to the top of the cabinet beside me. I looked to see my newest little boy sitting there with his plushy airplane. I watched him out of the corner of my eye twirling the yellow propeller. "Hello, Aiden, is there something you wanted?" I asked. "No. I'm just bored, I guess." He replied, giving the prop another listless spin.   "Well, maybe we can find something for you to do." I suggested. "Really? I'd like that!" He said excitedly nearly dropping the airplane in his haste.   I picked him up and carried him into the living room. "You could play Mario Kart." I said.   "I think it's too big for me..." Aiden replied, looking up at me with big sad eyes.   "Hmm you might be right."    I carried him over to the DVD cabinet. "You could watch a movie." I ...
