Outdoors with Rothbart
I took Rothbart with me to the local nature trail the other night. It was great! A nice, cool evening and hardly anyone else around to interrupt when I took photos.
I love nature photos with dolls in medieval costumes. They just look so great out in the wild where there are no manmade objects to spoil the illusion of going back in time.
In some places the sun was very bright even at that time of evening, and Rothbart was grateful for his hood.
Poor guy. The sun was so bright it was blinding and practically washed out his face.
Here was a better shaded spot by the rocks.
We live in an area near the mountains, so this nature trail takes us up pretty high. It overlooks a river and the scenery is just gorgeous.
This was at the highest point and you can see a long ways from there. Rothbart sat down for a rest and I got a shot of him against the horizon.
He doesn't look so small in the first picture, but I took a second for perspective. He still looks great, but it's humbling for him to realize how big of a place the world really is.
Rothbart found a couple interesting places to explore on the way down. "What's in this hollow stump?"
"I'm not getting any closer than this."
"I'm sure a dragon tore this stump apart with his sharp talons."
A nice, shady glen to rest.
There are some mighty beasts in these woods that can uproot such big trees!
"Ah! Another great hidey hole. Perfect to spend the night in."
"Where's everybody else going to sleep?"
