Midas's Brother Moves In

So back in November I purchased a brother for Midas. I waited, though, on introducing him until he had some decent clothes of his own.


So, without further ado, this is Rothbart. His outfit is mostly done, he just needs a few more small accessories. His cape is a very lightweight knit, his shirt is a lightweight burgundy apparel fabric, and his pants are the same black gauze his brother wears. I made him a jerkin, belt, and gauntlets out of lightweight leather fabrics. On dolls this small, everything has to be tiny and lightweight. I also got him a pair of boots from the same place I got Midas's.


Rothbart has a very soft face. He also needs a hair cut, but I'm not really looking forward to that. Cutting doll hair is not my strong suit and it's no fun at all...


As you can see, Rothbart is as much of a ham as Midas. Of course, I've decided Rothbart is the older brother, so he's probably the one who taught it to Midas. I need to finish his outfit with a bag, sword sheath, and some boot guards. I already got him a sword, but as of yet he has no way to carry it.


Rothbart always carries his magic amulet, which I made myself from some chain and a clock hand piece. I glued a Swarovski crystal to his amulet and to his gauntlet so it would look as if he also has his magic ring. Of course, the gauntlet moves around a bit, but I was unwilling to glue the jewel directly to his hand.

I even got Midas and Rothbart to pose for a picture with Akbadain. There's not room enough for both on the horse, and they find that kind of awkward anyway, so Rothbart opted to stay on his own two feet.

Storybook Land

We leave tomorrow night to start our vacation, so I thought I'd better put up a post or two before we go. I'll be leaving the laptop at home during this trip so no posts until we get back. It's been a bit of a busy week, so I haven't had a lot of time for posting, but I've got a moment now. In honor of our upcoming trip, I decided to post a few more pics from our last trip. Our grandparents live outside of Aberdeen, South Dakota; and in Aberdeen they have a little place called Storybook Land. We used to go here when we were kids so we decided it was time for a nostalgia visit. Basically, this place is filled with statues, buildings, and such of storybook creatures, characters, and settings. Above is Rapunzel's castle, complete with knights, Rapunzel, and the prince, hanging on for dear life from her hair. Some of the other characters to note are Paul Bunyan and Babe, the blue ox... The Gang's Wall Here

Now that you've met the Roads, the Garr brothers, and Ryder's first family; it's time you meet the Wall family. Brick Wall and his happy family belong to me, SilverStar-Burst. Their family contains my first ever BJD, who you'll meet a little further down the page. As you can see, Brick has a rather large family. He and his lovely wife have seven kids, one assistant, and a stowaway. That's not even counting all the little animals and aliens they drag along with them. Up first is Captain Brick Wall, former sky pirate, current treasure seeker and detective. He's ~47cm tall, and I bought him secondhand off of eBay. He started out as big brother to my two earliest YoSDs, but he made a better father-figure, so I made him that instead. He may have a little of a deer-in-the-headlights look right now, but that's only because I just told him he's going to be featured on a blog. I guess he's a little overwhelmed by the idea. History of Ryder's First BJD Ever

Barrel Ryder here again, with my next doll family. This family doesn't really have a last name but one of the characters has a last name so it's kinda confusing...I'll just get on with the post and it should make sense by the end. This is the family. This is Jade. She was my first ever BJD and the first ever BJD to enter this house, she is very special to me. Jade has a sad story, her husband was a police officer and was killed in the line of duty very shortly after they were married. Jade adopted three children after her husband died. She also owns a ranch and has a very handsome ranch hand who you will met momentarily. Jasmine was my second ever BJD. Jasmine's best friend is Lego Loki from the Avengers movie, Loki pretends to be mean but mess with his girl and he will end you! Jasmine also loves the Lord of the Rings, and the Hobbit. This is Amy.
