Gyl's Ride

I got a new doll earlier this year. His name is Gyl, and his character is a dragon in human form. He's so little, the perfect size to travel.

He fit Ken doll clothes, so for the first few weeks he wore Ken clothes while I got ready to draft him some patterns and then make him something. Here he's wearing Ken shoes, Ken pants, a shirt I made him, and a vest I made him.

Next I made him some PJs, and a little dragon themed teddy bear.

His dragon teddy has wings, a tail, horns, and an extra set of dragon ears along with his teddy ears.

Here's a better look at his PJs, and the bean bag I made for him.

I did his bean bag in a gray flannel fabric because I wanted it to look a little like a boulder.

And a closer look at his PJs. His pants are flannel, his shirt is knit fabric with a decal I printed off, and I made his slippers too. They're fleece.

Then yesterday I finally finished a medieval costume for him, and so I had to grab Akbadain and take them out for a photo shoot.

They set out across the meadow until they reached a huge pine.

Here, Gyl pulled Akbadain up to a halt. "Easy boy. Let's take a quick look around."

He searched as far as his eyes could see. "Over there looks like a good spot."

Across the way, he sat down on a huge stump and pulled back his hood. A loose strand of string got caught in his hair.

"Oops, don't want that there." He pulled it out before offering Akbadain a handful of oats.

"We should continue exploring." They rode to a rock bed where Gyl dismounted to inspect the stones.

"This one's really neat."

A little further along they discovered a large bush of pretty pink flowers. Shaped like hearts, Gyl'd never seen anything like it before.

These look good to eat, Akbadain thought, always hungry. He stretched out towards the flowers.

"They're beautiful," Gyl murmured. "But I seem to recall tales of a plant like this. What was it again?"

Just a nibble.

"Wait, Akba, I don't think you should be eating those," Gyl tried to pull his horse back. "They might be poisonous. I'll take a couple for Belinda, but then we should go."

Gyl gathered two of the pretty pink flowers, and mounted back up on Akbadain.

"Akba! Get your nose out of there!"

Together the two rode off and found Belinda sitting under the pine tree.

"Gyl! You're back," Belinda exclaimed when she saw him.

"Yes," Gyl held the flowers out to her. "I got you these flowers."

"They're lovely! Thank you."

"You're welcome," Gyl grinned.

Contented, they sat together under the tree.

With Gyl's medieval outfit finished, I'm planning to begin Belinda's next. I want to make her a second wig with the same yarn just in a different style, and then I'll have to do her clothes. I also intend to hot glue suede her. I did that to Gyl a couple of days ago and I'm in love with the difference it made.

I've got a pair of black boots on order for Gyl, and I'll have to make boots for Belinda because of her foot size/the type of footwear I want for her. It can be difficult to find shoes in this small of a size.

I've always got many goals bouncing around my head, but I'd really like to make progress in my mini medieval crew in the upcoming weeks. We'll see, though. I do need to introduce some other dolls on here, but that's a post for another day.
