Crochet Tops for Smart Doll Girls

So it's been a while--like a really LONG while--since I've posted about new dolls I've gotten. And I never posted anything about wanting a Smart Doll or getting one, but now, somehow, I actually have two: Bryce and Fable. Bryce and Fable are a brother and sister pair, and I'll have to introduce them better later. For now I wanted to show off Fable and the new crochet tops I made that she agreed to model for me.

First we have a lilac one.

It has short sleeves and a few rows of "ruffles" at the bottom.

Like all of them, I had it close in the back with snaps. Smart Dolls are supposed to be easy to disassemble/re-assemble, but I prefer not to do that. No disrespect meant to the designer, but I don't want to strip my doll down to parts to dress her. And so, even if it's not the most "realistic" way of doing things, I like snaps at the back of my dolls' clothes. Thanks to the snaps, these tops are simple to get on and off.

Next, I made a pumpkin orange one.

I based this one off of one of my own tops. I love the color, even though it reminds me a bit more of autumn than summer. But, then again, the top I have is more of an autumn top as well, which is probably what I was going by.

I think this style is really cute (well, actually, they all are but...) and it looks nice on Fable. I wasn't convinced orange was quite her color at first, but, honestly, I don't think it looks bad at all.

In this light green top, I think Fable looks a little like she's playing Bess Marvin from Nancy Drew. Of course, Bess is blonde, but details, details...

For this top, I wanted very simple sleeves, so they each come to a little point at the center of her outer arm. This one was quicker to make than the orange one, but it's still really cute.

And, like the orange one, this one only needed two snaps.

Lastly we have the very first top I made. I made a dress with a similar bodice to this one once for one of my Evangeline Ghastly dolls, and I really wanted to try it for the Smart Doll. It looks really pretty, and Fable looks so sassy in it.

It fits really nicely too, and goes great with summer apparel, especially for the Smart Doll.

This one only needed one snap, and I love the tie at her neck.

Anyway, all four of these tops are up for sale now on eBay and Etsy. I plan to make a few more in the future, but I'm in the middle of a larger crochet project for Fable, and I'm planning a sewing project for her brother Bryce too. Plus, I wanted to do a similar sewing project for a little doll I've yet to introduce named Etienne. And we're working on a project for the store that involves Bryce. And, lastly, I have four BJD heads washed and ready to face-up as soon as I get a chance. No, wait, that wasn't the last thing. The last thing was work. I have a new job that I also have to provide focus to also. As you can see, I'm quite swamped at the moment, but when I finish at least the crochet project for Fable I might be able to start a couple more tops...
