Hi, everybody! I know I've been gone a long time. Basically, I got really busy with everything and didn't post. I'm back now, and I'm hoping to give this blog a lot more attention in 2020. So, why I do dolls, that's this post's title. I've been doing dolls for a long time. I think I got my first Tonner doll back when I was 16, so more than 11 years ago--a Nancy Drew doll if anyone would like to know. Since then I've collected a large number of Tonner dolls, and then a few years ago I got my first BJD. In the last few years my collection of BJDs has grown quite a bit, and I love my dolls. At the same time, I've noticed a lot of hate in the BJD world. There are people hating on each other for where their dolls come from, and where the owners come from: their age, their tastes in dolls, their creation of characters, the list goes on. My sister made some new crop-top sweaters for Smart Doll. I finally added snaps to the back of them and they were ready to list. Each are a different color, though the same style. They're super cute and perfect for summer. The first is made of a variegated purple in dark tones. The second is bright neon. For the third, she used light green and purple variegated. There's a plain cream for the fourth. The fifth one is a variegation of blues and purples. It's also hand-dyed. Finally we have a sixth one in cream and the hand-dyed variegated which make the stripes across the bottom. They're all super cute and perfect for summer. So it's been a while--like a really LONG while--since I've posted about new dolls I've gotten. And I never posted anything about wanting a Smart Doll or getting one, but now, somehow, I actually have two: Bryce and Fable. Bryce and Fable are a brother and sister pair, and I'll have to introduce them better later. For now I wanted to show off Fable and the new crochet tops I made that she agreed to model for me. First we have a lilac one. It has short sleeves and a few rows of "ruffles" at the bottom. Like all of them, I had it close in the back with snaps. Smart Dolls are supposed to be easy to disassemble/re-assemble, but I prefer not to do that. No disrespect meant to the designer, but I don't want to strip my doll down to parts to dress her. And so, even if it's not the most "realistic" way of doing things, I like snaps at the back of my dolls' clothes. Thanks to the snaps, these tops are simple to get on and off. N...

Yesterday we went to the nature trail and Damian came along. Halfway up the trail there's a shady spot with a little river and we stopped for some photos. Damian found a lot of fun stuff to do, like climbing this big tree. "Look, no hands!" Damian sat over an old, broken branch and grinned. "The world is just so big for a little guy like me," Damian looked out over the horizon. "I wish Atlas was here. He'd be fun to explore with." "But I guess I'll have a cool story to tell him when we get home. Now, let's go see the river." Damian had convinced me to let him bring his new Nessy toy because I told him there would be a river. Damian had a birthday on Wednesday, May 1st. However, with that being the middle of the week, Atlas convinced Damian to wait until today to celebrate and have a party with all his friends. Finally the big day arrived. Atlas stood by his little brother as the party began. Xavier, Howl, Horace, and Wendy were all there. Cal brought Kit the frog. And, of course, Anakin was there too.
